Ockbrook Prom 2011![]() The Ockbrook Prom 2011 took place at the Morley Hayes Golf Club on the 1st July 2011. After months of revision and the stress of taking their GCSE's, the Year 11 girls of Ockbrook were at last able to let their hair down and enjoy a night out together. The evening was a great success and luckily they were blessed with fantastic weather. We are delighted with the collection and whilst we are still "shortlisting", we were very impressed with your advise, finish & professionalism throughout. It was especially nice to get the feeling that you were both present and mingled well and weren't intrusive at all during the day. We look forward to seeing the outcome and final finish, but thank you so far for all your help. Our New Canvas Wraps![]() Have a look at our new range of canvas wraps, which can be a beautiful addition to your wedding or as can be seen in "Charlie, Sam & Georgina" a set of fabulous portraits. Please contact us for details Mark & Alison![]() We can't thank you both enough for making our day so enjoyable and more importantly keeping the memory alive with the lovely photos you took. I really don't like my photo taken, but the pictures you showed us tonight are lovely and I think I will be really proud to show these to all our friends and family. Chris & Monica"Just a quick note to thank you so much for our beautiful wedding photographs. The album is really special but our framed print is just sensational! We asked you to create an informal record of the afternoon and consequently, your photos have captured perfectly the various emotions of the day - my nerves beforehand, the formality of the ceremony and the sense of elation which followed. Honestly, we will be eternally grateful to you for giving us just what we wanted. You look fantastic!Every woman wants to look her very best on her wedding day - even the most ‘foundation phobic’ fresh faced of us needs a more polished appearance on this most important of events. Model and renowned make-up artist Sarah Bee, and John Cocking, International fashion and beauty photographer turned creative wedding photographer for indialily, have developed, for County Brides, a simple list of make-up and posing hints to allow even the shyest bride sparkle with confidence Sarah Bee on make-up Practice your make-up before the day and never go for a completely new look for your wedding.......it’s important that the groom recognises you! And remember, even if you normally don a black polo neck every day, you should try this make-up when wearing pale colours, similar to your planned dress, close to your face. If you have a facial before the wedding - try to have it at least a week in advance to allow your skin to calm and benefit. Try to keep your look naturally soft and pretty. Dark and/or bright colours on a bride’s face rarely work. The contrast between them and a pale wedding dress is too stark. If you are wearing a low neckline dress, your foundation/tinted moisturiser should match your upper chest, not your face, or your face will look mask-like. Ask your best friend or mum to keep a few essentials.......ie. translucent pressed powder compact, a lippie, and a couple of hair pins in her handbag for your use....particularly for the ‘photos! Your hands are important on your wedding day....they offset your ring. Shell out on a manicure...but once again, don’t use any bright nail polishes....keep it light and pretty. If you have naturally straight hair it may be best to avoid trying a curly look. Even if using the most powerful styling products by midway through the day you may look bedraggled. A disturbed, nervous nights sleep prior to the wedding may leave you with dark shadows under your eyes, don’t try to hide them with creamy concealer or heavy foundation, the result will be ageing and flash photography may pick up on a paler coloured area. Concealer pens are better as they lighten the area and reflect light, the product can also be directed more precisely. All the emotion of the day may leave you with a flushed face. Green creams are handy for toning down redness, apply foundation normally and then use a little green on a flat brush on areas where you normally don’t flush, for example down the sides of the face. Make sure you use a waterproof mascara....in case of emotional moments! John Cocking of indialily on looking your best Many brides are slightly nervous in the run up to the wedding, as they complain that they don’t ‘enjoy’ having their picture taken. In this instance why not spend a little time looking through old photographs of yourself so you recognise when you look your best - with a wide smile, or smiling lips closed, looking to one side or perhaps glancing upwards looking through your fringe or lashes. Celebrities tend to have a practised look and stance which they know works best for them, study celebrity magazines and spot the repeated poses, try a few in front of your mirror. If you stand with one shoulder facing slightly forward, towards the camera, you will achieve a more pleasing, slimming profile than if you stand facing the camera full on. This stance will also show off your dress to full effect, emphasising the shape of the skirt and the neckline. Your feet should be at ‘10 o’clock’ with one foot pointing forward, front knee slightly bent, this twists a hip towards the front, again giving a slimmer profile Try to keep your chin down, this look will emphasise your eyes as you look upwards towards the camera. For an informal look to your photographs, carry on chatting and laughing with others in the shot or with the photographer. A good photographer will chat with you as he/she works to put you at your ease. This will ensure you look relaxed and happy throughout and avoids a ‘fixed grin’ expression more suited to Miss World contestants. Always practise wearing your shoes before the day, scuff smooth leather soles so they have some grip. Walking with confidence in a floor length dress on high, slippery soled shoes is nigh on impossible and the worry will show in your expression! It’s also worth wearing tiaras, strapless gowns and practising with long stoles or shawls - all in the privacy of your own home and before you have to attempt a sweeping entrance down an impressive staircase! Never try and smile whilst looking directly into sunlight, a good photographer will stand you in front of the direction of the sunlight, giving you attractive backlighting which enables you to smile naturally without having to squint. If the sun is shining into your eyes ask to move into a more shaded position. Greens and shades of turquoise are the most difficult colours to wear, giving an unflattering hue to skintones. They are also the trickiest colours to capture technically. When selecting colours for bridesmaid’s dresses take into account the skintones of the wearers and the types of fabrics used. A silky, shimmering surface will reflect more of the colour than a matt or cotton finish. It’s also worth remembering that the light will change depending on the time of year when the wedding takes place, a colour that looks fab in bright sunshine against a sun tan may not work so well in cool January light against pale wintery skintones. For the most successful look it’s worth considering all the different elements that you are bringing together to achieve a stylish, classy look. Simple, natural make-up, flattering colours to wear and good preparation, so you are confident and happy, will ensure a great outcome and lovely pictures to remind you of a most spectacular day. |
